A Full-day Tour in Dahshur and Saqqara Necropolises
On this tour, you will have the chance to discover the Dahshur necropolis to trace the development of the tradition of building pyramids. In the morning, you will be picked up by a tour guide from your hotel/hostel in Cairo or Giza to set off on your journey. Heading south to the Dahshur necropolis where you will be fascinated by the sight of the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid. The Bent Pyramid was built first under the rule of King Sneferu, father of Khufu for whom the Great Pyramid of Giza was built. The Bent Pyramid is called so because of the mistake the architect made which led them to complete the pyramid with an inclination instead of being a smooth service. So you will get to see the earliest attempt at building a pyramid with your own eyes! The Red Pyramid was also built for King Snefru. The mistakes made in building the Bent Pyramid were avoided in building this one resulting in the first perfect pyramid with straight sides that was ever made! Continue your tour and visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser in the Saqqara necropolis. The Step Pyramid is the oldest existing colossal stone building of Egypt, which was built around 2630 BC for King Djoser. It consists of six mastabas on top of one another giving it the stepped effect. After this walk through the different phases of the building of pyramids, it would be the perfect time to have lunch at a local restaurant!
